Do You Have An Adequate Knowledge Of Soffit?

Though soffit is not any new-fangled thing, still people don’t have an adequate knowledge about it and they are using it without realising what is it exactly. Technically, soffit referred to the underside of any architectural element like the staircase, ceiling, etc. But nowadays, soffit usually refers to the underneath portion of a roof overhang. The word soffit comes from two Italian words “Sotto” (means under) and “figure” (means to fix). If you have never noticed a soffit, then just go outside and stand below your roof overhang.

Need To Maintain Your Soffit Properly

It is very imperative for you to keep all soffits well maintained. Because  they are an important part of a wider guttering system of your house. Not only that but also they play a pivotal role in ensuring that rainwater is kept away from your house. If there is any hole or a rotten part, then it can encourage the rainwater to penetrate the roof of your house. And undoubtedly, this can cause damp and further damage to your property. You need to spend a humongous amount to repair or restore a rotten attic space and roof. But, if you can identify the problems at an early stage, then you can comfortably repair a soffit. Moreover, if there is any visible hole in your soffit, then a bird or dozen can easily enter into it and start building nests. A bird can easily bring a chunk of debris and damp grass and in this way, it can create some heinous problems in your roof. Not only birds, but even squirrels can get easy access through a leakage in your soffit. Like birds, they are another critter that can cause your damage to your property.

In earlier, soffits are made of timber and this is the reason that they started rotting after sometimes and create problems for you. Soffits that are made of wood can get easily damaged by rainwater and thus, they can’t protect your home from rainwater. But these days, soffits are made of a new material known as uPVC. uPVC is durable and cheaper product and it can easily fit into a place. Since they are very sturdy, soffits that are made of uPVC last decades before they need any repairing. Moreover, you don’t need to spend a chunk of money on their maintenance.

Though uPVC is a plastic material, still it is non-toxic and recyclable which means it is an environment-friendly product. Since uPVC is well insulated, it will help you to keep the heat inside your room during the winter and help stop the scorching sun from heating it up during the summer.
Once soffit is installed in your home, you also need to check yearly whether your gutter system is free from debris and working properly or not?

Are you looking for any professional soffit installation company? Then, you should get in touch with YiTac(S) Pte Ltd. This is an eminent engineering solution provider to the construction industry. The company embraces the customers with a chunk of services including soft installation, pipework, general engineering work, and many more. The company also have some products like passive cooling system, pre-insulated duct system, and active (the intelligent coating) which they offer to the clients as per their requirements.

Displacement Ventilation And Process Cooling Pipe Work Systems

These systems use natural convection principles to provide a comfortable temperature indoors. The hot is allowed to rise to the ceiling in this process. The air is allowed to diffuse in the floor level at the occupied space. When the air rises eventually, the heat gets collected from the equipment and people in the room. So ultimately the occupied space becomes a pool of cool air which doesn’t interfere with the heat gains, occupant CO2 and smells.

The Displacement Ventilations systems are a major type of cooling system that is served by central AHUs or air handling units and chillers. Unlike mix flow ventilation systems aiming at diluting the entire airspace, displacement ventilation systems directly remove the heat by consolidating it at the top space. It supplies air from various outlets at a low velocity close to the floor. The cool air gets heated and rises to the top for extraction. This air doesn’t re-enter the occupied space.

Advantages
  • Have the potential for good energy efficiency.
  • The quality of air produced is better compared to FCUs (fan coil units) or VAV (variable air volume) systems as the air doesn’t get mixed up.
  • They can also be used in larger floors.
  • Less expensive than most cooling systems.
  • They use less ductwork and fewer diffusers.
  • They improve quality of indoor air and reduce the CO2 accumulation.
  • Unlike mix flow systems, DVs have higher effective ventilation.
  • For most time of the year, free cooling can be available.
  • The heat gains from roof and lights can be eliminated by building cooling loads like exhaust and 100% use of outdoor air.
  • Compared to AHUs the maintenance level of DV is low.

Cost comparison
These are less costly than the refrigerant systems or conventional fan coil units. They are mostly preferred in areas with normal cooling requirements like IT rooms over localized cooling systems.

Applicable Buildings
These are best suited for building with high ceilings and offices with low-density space. The system has been improving as it is being applied in many areas like schools and offices.

Comfort and temperature control
They provide a very comfortable environment for working as the level of outside air is higher in DVs and also less return air mixing. It avoids creating uncomfortable air drafts by supplying air at higher temperatures most likely above 63 F and also at a lower velocity reducing pressure requirements. This makes the environment more comfortable for occupants.

Cooling process pipework
A Process Cooling Pipe work system includes industrial cooling, process cooling systems and many more process with applications in areas like chemical, pharmaceutical, gas and food industries. It is one of the main systems in the building and construction industry. It is a very comfortable and reliable cooling system. Its services include:
  • Condensate and steam pipework.
  • Thermal fluid pipework.
  • Cooling water pipework.
  • Compressed air pipework.
  • Hot water flow return and low-temperature pipework.
